Charles W Munro says:

If the house is as old as the guy in the video says, it cannot be a Sears
house. The Sovereign brothers started the Aladdin Company in 1908 pioneered
the process of selling catalog “kit houses.” Sears picked the idea up from
them. Therefore, it was either built after 1908 or its not a Sears house at
all. Sorry to burst bubbles. ; )

FirefighterShoe says:

Unfortunately this is not a Sears kit house. It is not one offered by Sears
and for starts it predates Sears homes which were not even available until
1908.

Shari Davenport says:

FirefighterShoe is right – if a home was purchased as a kit home and/or
built before 1908 or after 1940, it is not a Sears Kit Home. Period. End of
sentence. There are numerous ways to verify provenance of Sears kit homes.
The BEST source of that information is Rosemary Thornton’s website, sears
homes dot org, and her books on Sears homes. There were 6 other companies
that sold kit homes nationally also. The Arts and Crafts Society website has
info on all of them in their section on Kit Homes.
